Etch resist for silvered ivory?
I've seen a lot of different theories on what people use as etch resist and most have varying results. I have some beads with SI shards on them and I want to etch everything except the shard areas- or to have them etch just a little compared to everything else. Is there a tried-and-true way to cover them that will come off after and not be eaten through in the meantime? I'm using EtchAll creme if it makes a difference.

I've had good success with Elmer's Glue. Paint it on fairly thick with a paint bush, let dry completely then etch. Soak in water, peel off then scrub off any bits that remain. Works well for me, hope it works for you!

I generally use wood glue, and whenever possible I let it dry overnight. It holds up better than regular elmer's, I've found, giving me crisper lines, and it comes off pretty cleanly after (the acid and) a bit of soaking in warm soapy water.

I use puff paint. Like the kind you use on t shirts. It's $1 at Walmart for a small bottle. I get bright colors, I always know where I put it (it does come in clear too) and it peels right off easy when you are done or if you put it on the wrong spot
