200 cfm fan enough? comments please!!
I recently had a 200 cfm exhaust fan installed in my studio, its a smaller room, so I had him put a vent above the door to eliminate negative pressure. Does anyone know if my 200 cfm fan is enough or do I need to upgrade?

200cfm is about as good as no fan at all...... Its about equal the fan in a typical bathroom...

But very informative.

Thanks for the replies, I had an HVAC company come install it and I guess I assumed they would have known what size was appropriate, I should have came to the specialists before I took their word for it.
Thanks again everyone.

Hi Rex,
Glasscampus.com has some information on ventilation and how to determine what you may need.
I hope this helps.

Yah, and those are Dennis Brady's opinions and his only and do not match any of the accepted "norms" that half a dozen respected glass artists and industrial safety familiar persons subscribe to or recommend.....
Basic rule is 125 cfm of air flow per square foot of hood opening ....
Simply figures something like this for a 18 x 30inch hood...
18x30 = 540 sq in
540 / 144 = 3.75 sq feet
3.75 x 125 = 468 CFM...
Its that simple....
