Wow ... thanks for the heads up. They must have been in a hurry. Couldn't even spell location correctly on the website.

I'm miss my regular drive ... but I'm sure this will be fun too!!

Wonder what all the people who booked rooms at the old place (using the BeadFest rate) think of this. I know several people who won't stay anywhere else but where the event is so they don't have to transport from place to place.

The original convention center will be undergoing some construction, so they had to move the location. I'd guess the new location is the reason for there being no lampworking classes. It's a very different arrangement there, all the vendors and classes on one floor, carpeted floors, etc. Maybe it will be back at Valley Forge next year (I hope).
Dave, there are bound to be people shopping for lampworking supplies--I'm sure to escape my artisan table and head to the ABR booth during the show!

Chad... it is my understanding that there will be shuttle service between to two locations 7a-9p each day... but I do know those that already booked non-refundable room are not overly happy....
Anita- heard that at least part of the area is going to be a casino so I dont know what the furture of the show will be at the "old" location.

I look forward to seeing everyone in Aug but will admit to nerves as it is an unknowm for booth location and such.....see you all then!

Yeah. But, I know as an instructor, I intentionally booked my rooms at that hotel so I wouldn't have to transport stuff. I know a lot of students did as well.

Just seems shady to me. They obviously knew about this for some time. I'm assuming that's why they aren't having lampworking classes, and they started wavering on that in February. For them to take this long gives the impression of very bad organizational skills.

I know this much... they have lost me as an instructor over the way they have jerked me around. They will never get another penny of my money or make any more money off of me.

I totally understand....
I actually drive 2 hours each way. Thursday-Sunday since after I pay for my booth area I don't have anything left for a hotel room....I have already commited to this show so I have no other choice but to work with the change and try to get the word out so folks know where the "new" location is.....

Kris,
I will see you there! Here's hoping the customers find us, like the new location, and we have good sales.

I'm a little nervous too. Last year was my first time doing the show and I did well. But, I do have faith in the stamina and drive of bead ladies

Does anyone know where the Artisan tables are going to be? Looking at the floor plan I suspect they might be in the back by the Michael's Workshops.

I think the one floor plan will be a benefit to all, sellers and customers. The fact that hotels are still in the same distance range, is also a good thing. I look forward to the new arrangement, and hope to get to see old friends and meet many more of you.

I'll be sharing a double end cap with three other ladies from the Chicago area... Cindy MacEwen, Diane Tarullo and Karen Ovington. We will be in booths 509 and 608. Come by and say "HI"!!

Just found out our booth numbers, I am with my usual partner "Hye on Beads" and we will be in 431,433,435...
I will be bringing Punties to this show as well as more yarn which was very popular at the Arpil show. I will have them behind the table so just ask if you dont see them... looking foward to another awesome show and seeing everyone again.

I didn't think downstairs was so awful, lol. I had a stellar show last year even if I was in the dungeon.

ABSOLUTELY! By far, having a nice flow to a show is more condusive to being fair to all there. Personally, I'm still very happy on the change! BRING IT! I'm itching for a show... I cut down my shows so much, I look forward to this trip.

We four from our Chicago based group, take advantage of being in Philly, and make a side trip on the way back to the airport and have lunch at the Reading Market in downtown Philly. Yum, yum, yum!!

I love the Reading market! I used to do BMAC and we would always pop over for lunch.

The artisan tables are where I thought they would be. I'm in 923

BeadFest/Interweave has the worst history with venue locations, and they never seem to get on top of how to deal with it. Remember Reading? Yeesh!

I want to love these guys, doing a major show in my backyard, but I just can't!

Well, I don't know this fair before it was at the most recent location. I think I started exhibiting there four years ago with my local compadres, who had done it before that for several years. With all sincerity, I'm happy! Can't say that too much about a lot of the other bigger shows....... I'm going to approach this show with great positive intention, and believe that the rest of us all feel the same.

damn, Oaks is not around the corner from there.
I am so glad I didn't book a room. the only reason I'd stay at the venue is so I could run up and put my stuff in my room, lay down for a quick 20, meditate and come right back downstairs. waiting for a shuttle and taking about a min.15 minute ride is not my idea of cool. plus that area gets congested traffic wise, often.
what a disaster and what a disappointment.
I feel bad for the vendors but I also, personally am bummed, it's moved farther away, not necessarily out of reach, but far enough and placed in such a location making it more difficult and a pita for people from the ny/nj area to get to.
is fort washington no longer open? that would have made sense to me, or maybe not big enough?
I'm one person, who now IF I go will only go 1 day.

I asked why there weren't any lampwork classes and was told they didn't fill.

I looked up directions from one location to the new and it is less than 6 miles, instead of getting off the PA turnpike at Gulph road you just use rt222 to rt 422 to Egypt road...

I was trying to keep this thread as a positive thing and keep eveyone posted on the new location. I am not sure why there were not lampworking classes, I dont know if the new location would even allow them or why there is poor communitcation for some. I have always recieved phone call or email back the same day I sent them....I am dissipointed in the change is location but there is a major construction project going on there and in my opiniton it is far better than the entire show being cancelled.... I cant change what or where the show will be so I will focus on spreading the word and having a great show..... Looking forward to seeing those who can make it there.....

how could the classes fill if there was never any info or ways to sign up? that makes no sense that they told you that...... they have filled or been close to full everytime i've gone

That what I thought, "How can they fill if they aren't offered?" I had asked if they were discontinuing lampwork classes because I saw they weren't offered and was interested in applying to teach next year. She told me to apply because they are always looking for new class offerings.

Kris, I found it to be a great show last year. I think this year will be great too. I have no troubles with the management. They were very helpful and easy to deal with in all of my interactions. I have recommended it to others and at least one is taking me up on it.

I'll be there. Weird about the communication on lampworking class. Seems the most likely conclusion that with the location change they couldn't get it together in time.

Suzy we are across the isle from one another.

I've emailed Dana four times with questions before I registered and I got an email back the same day each time. So far I've been happy with the communication.
