Default Help with Mini CC please...

I got my Mini CC set up yesterday and took it for a test run with dismal results. I'm upgrading from a HH and everthing to do with propane and oxy is totally new to me (I was using bulk propylene). I need a tutorial that explains from beginning to end how to make this work! I've got the propane and oxycon hooked up but I dont' know how to get the flame right.

How far should I open the valve on the propane tank?

How do you get the correct PSI? I set it while the torch is off of course but once it's on the psi changes.

How high should I turn on the propane at the torch?

Where should I set the LPM on the oxycon?
Brand: Devilbiss
Model MC84
Outlet Pressure 10 PSI
02 % outputs 94% at 5 lpm 95% at 4 lpm

How much oxygen should I use at the torch?

I tried different settings but I either got soot going up in the air, or the flame was so bright I couldn't see a thing even with my didys.

I hope this doesn't sound too stupid! This is really tricky and I would appreciate any help.

How far should I open the valve on the propane tank? ALL the way.

How do you get the correct PSI? I set it while the torch is off of course but once it's on the psi changes. I turn it up to about 6 and after I light the torch it settles down to about 4. You can always adjust it after lighting the torch.

How high should I turn on the propane at the torch? I turn the knob just enough to light the torch, then up a little more, then dial in the oxy until the flame has the characteristics I want. If I want a bigger flame, I turn up the propane a little, then the oxy. I guess I keep the candles around 1/3 - 1/2 in.

Where should I set the LPM on the oxycon? You want 5 LPM.

How much oxygen should I use at the torch? Just enough to get the flame characteristics you want. I'm sure someone else can describe this better than me.

I tried different settings but I either got soot going up in the air, or the flame was so bright I couldn't see a thing even with my didys. If you're getting soot, you're not using enough oxygen or perhaps your oxygen pressure is too low. Or perhaps your propane pressure is too high.

I hope this doesn't sound too stupid! This is really tricky and I would appreciate any help. Not stupid at all! I'd look for some photos on the site of lit torches to help you get an idea of what your flame should look like. I haven't used a HotHead, but I'm pretty sure your flame is going to be a lot smaller and softer (not to mention quieter) on your Mini CC than on your Hot Head. Smaller, but MUCH hotter.
