Default Jellyfish

JELLYFISH
Tutorials for lampworkers

This tutorial is intended for experienced lampworkers working with COE 104 glass.
In this tutorial you will find step-by-step instructions on how to make a pendant with a jellyfish off mandrel.
The instruction shows the techniques for:
- implosion
- using enamel for making murrini
You will learn how to make a multi-layer implosion so that new layers are immersed into a mass of glass, without deforming the previous ones; and how to connect implosion with murrini so that the pattern inside the bead would be a single whole, with no gap.
Also, the technology of making a pendant of free form without a mandrel and, therefore, without a hole inside glass is shown. You will see how to make a ribbed tubular bail from glass to attach a cord or chain to the pendant.
More than one hundred photos and some diagrams will help you to understand the procedure easily. The tutorial also contains links to two short videos covering distinctive steps of the process.
