Photoshop Elements, how do you??????????
Hi, I have Photoshop Elements 2. I was trying to figure out how to do a black smudged border like the one on my business card. I thought it would be the gradient tool, or a number of other things like something to do with feathering maybe. One thing I sure do know how to use is the Undo History !!!!!! I'm real good with that one.
Is it possible with this software? Thank you !

Photoshop
This may make the effect yo're looking for.
Make your border then go up to Filter<Gaussian Blur<and pick the amount you want from the preview window by moving the slider.
You may want to make the border on a new layer while you blur it and then flatten the layers when your done.

actually the easiest way is to make 2 layers
your photo on top layer
and the bottom layer make black
now go to your top layer on the photo and crop the area you want to show leaving about 1/4 inch around the outside
then go to toolbar and select menu and select inverse
Then Select Feather you can play with that # and I usually use aroun 15-35
then hit the delete button till you get the desired effect.

Thank you, I'm going to try this out later.
I did take the photo, and had someone design the card, I can get you the name if you like. Modern Postcard printed it, they do a great job.

Where you go in to select Feather you can put in a # the higher the # the smoother and wider the gradient will be. I will make some samples to show you

you can also just drag them back and forth too in the layer menu if you want the one on top on the bottom just click on it and hold your left button down and drag it below the one that was originally below it.
