Default Glass paint, and reparation options

Hi,
another quest...

I want to paint sandblasted sculptures.
But what if they break? can they still be repaired if painted?

anyone knows a paint that will work for that?

paint recommendation?

I have tried oil paint so far, love the look, but worried what would happen if I heat it up to repair a piece... as you know sometimes clients break them!

Could always glue them, but I prefer to repair them at the torch

You'd need to remove the paint from, most likely, the entire piece.

Consider that for safety's sake you put the piece in the kiln to bring it to temp before working on it. That paint's going to burn.

Oil paint burns off clean when you ramp it up to temp. Wash under running water to get off the dust. Ramp back up the kiln, repair, reblast, re anneal, and repaint

wow! cool about oils! that is what I used so far. Are they also durable? not affected by the sun on the long run and easy to clean. I only started painting on sandblasted sculptures in January. Thank you so much for your reply Maui. This may save me so much time! The glass is not affected by the burnt paint?

I have seen some pretty cool powder coated glass in the past, that may be something for you to look into or experiment with.

Powder coating requires some equipment but its relatively inexpensive. Its main use is for automotive finishes and things of that sort so I would assume it would be a pretty durable paint.

Here's a link if your interested
