Red face Getting a stuck bead off a mandrel

Hi guys! Been lurking here for years and finally feel like I might have a tip to offer.

I had a bead stuck on a mandrel. I could rotate the bead but it just wouldn't slide off the mandrel, even after trying the freezer trick. So I got out my dremel, and used the sanding disc I use for smoothing my dogs' nails, and ran it around the tip of the mandrel.

TaDah! that reduced the mandrel thickness enough that the bead slid right off.

I hope that is helpful to someone, someday.

Pretty bead and great tip I'll have to try that. I have several beads residing in my freezer.

Thank you! I'm making Mala beads for my mother, and of course the stuck one was my favorite so I had to get it off!

Hope yours come free too!

Great idea, Jenifer! Have you tried to drill holes in gem stones (if you use them in beading work)?

Hi Sammie
No, I haven't...don't use gemstones, just glass <3.
