I didn't think there was anything to compare. I thought Nortel's was a blatant and direct copy of the original Jim Moore.
I'd go with the original.

Yeah, if I was going to buy one of those, I'd get Jim Moore's. They stole his design.

I don't know anything about Nortel, but the Jim Moore is a quality tool.

I have the Jim Moore and bought it after hearing so many recommendations here on LE. I've never regretted the purchase.

I bought a Jim Moore press - even had it shipped to Australia!
As it was so expensive to ship, I decided to get all the dies, including the plastic ones, at the same time. They're brilliant!
I've since purchased the dapping balls that fit it too. If you're going to make bead caps, they get the doming done in seconds.
Well worth the investment imo.
Marianne.

See, the only reason why I like the nortel is because it comes with all the dies.

I have the Jim Moore press and really like it. Before I got mine, I heard from someone else that the Nortel one is virtually a copy of Jim's press but it's not aligned as well. I also hear people are really happy with the Impress. I wanted to be able to rivet onto bigger pieces of metal, that's why I went with the Jim Moore press. I don't think you could go wrong with Jim's press. He also makes customize dies if you need something special too.

The Jim Moore is awesome, and I like supporting the guy who had the idea originally. He also provides excellent service and will redo the tops of the hard rubber press pieces when you've used them so much there are grooves in the rubber. It's a small thing, but it's a nice touch.

Thanks for this thread, it has convinced me to go with Jim when I order one. I want a pair of his jacks anyway
