Default Fuming Bullseye with silver (or gold)

What works? What doesn't?

Pics?

I can't tell if my glass is not doing much, or I am not fuming well. An idea of what I SHOULD see, if anyone else has tried and would like to share, would be great.

If I remember correctly there was a vanilla color (not sure of the exact name but vanilla was in the name) that fumes and reacts very similar to effetre's ivory...

hope this helps, it has been a very long time since I have played with bullseye

I think the only vanilla is "French Vanilla" for BE....they have a Nougat now that is reactive in the same way. Good start, thanks!

I've done a fair amount of silver fuming with BE. But the only gold I've done was with boro.

Summary by color family
nougat, french vanilla, streakies with either of those colors, sand, custard, etc
-They act like generally like ivory in 104
-first, they turn a light tan that's very slightly reflective
-then they turn a darker tan
-if you keep going you'll get a mirror finish.

Blue transparents - wisteria, carribbean
-fume
-take them to a shiny mirror finish
-reduce (unreduce, you can do multiple cycles)
-reacts like silver glass (a little)
-you can also encase to enhance the effect a little

Cranberry pink, transparent light orange/lollipop
-treat the same as the blue, they react, but differently.

-I also did either fudgecicle or one of the other oddlot dark browns. - it turned sort of purple

I get a lot of fuming just when I reduce a bead with SIS on it. I also fumed ()with gold) a bead with a lot of pinks in it ... came up beautifully too.

I don't have any - I used that combo in a Kate Fowle class where I learned to fume. Gold is also pretty on Nougat - the light pinky ivory color is really pretty.

Did you use a boro or quartz rod to fume?

I have this awesome little quartz in mdf apparatus that Kate gave us in that glass. It is the bomb-dealio. I've posted a pic of it before, but I can't seem to find it.

Kate's class was the bomb-dealio! First class I ever took. Can't wait to take another. And she only lives a hop skip and a jump away from me. Yup, I rock!

I have the same thing as Squid (from Kate as well). They are not glued in. The holes are drilled into the MDF and the rods are then slipped into the holes. This gives you the opportunity to use both sides of the rod should you need to.

I haven't fumed any BE yet. Lot's of 104. Clear is a favorite. It turns the most beautiful fuschia! I am sure BE would do the same.

This is a very good thread regarding how to fume http://lampworketc.com/forums/showth...=silver+fuming

BUT, before you even consider doing any fuming, you have to be sure you have outstanding ventilation.

Fuming with silver is not nearly as worrying as fuming with gold. Silver fumes will not make you sick and is only a mild irritant to some people.
