Beau Barrett is bringing his amazing boro skills to Northern California for a class on January 14/15, 2017 in my teaching studio. I announced this yesterday and there are still a few seats left. We are 20 minutes from the San Jose airport (SJC) and 13 miles from the ocean, in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
COURSE TITLE: Making blown boro beads and small scale tubing techniques.
DESCRIPTION:
This course will begin with going over important fundamentals of working with glass tubing, then expand into more advanced pattern, color and shaping techniques/methods to create unique blown beads and small scale objects. Creating beads this way gives the maker a great deal of freedom in regards to shape, size and applicable techniques such as; incalmo, line twists, inside work and shaping with air.
TECHNIQUES: Pulling and prepping points, Crucial tools, Inside and outside decorating techniques; dots, lines, frit, fuming. Working characteristics of various colors, and how to get the most from them, Color Theory, Small scale incalmo techniques, Simple and advanced shaping methods.
