Question glass pineapple bottle stopper

Hi everyone

Well i got a order for a bottle stopper with a pineapple on top. I'm have trouble figuring out what color to try

From what i have seen people try and use a yellowish color but i think it makes it look more like a ear of corn then a pineapple.

So any suggestions would be great and even if anyone have a technique on making pineapples that would be great The order also has 12 fruit glass charms to so any help with making fruit would be great

Thanks in advance and I'm also posting this over at melt to see if any of them have any idea's also

Maybe try white over clear, brown transparent over that, then yellow transparent over that? You can add some green accents here and there for ripening spots.

I've never actually made a pineapple though, but that's where I'd start

You grew that pineapple that is awsume. I live in the interior of B.C. and was thrilled to be able to grow apples plums and my favourite peaches. It would be so cool to grow a pineapple. I bet it tasted sweet.

That picture is so pretty that now you've got me thinking about how to do a pineapple in a marble, implosion style - by the way, isn't it interesting the things people think about while falling asleep at night?

Sweet pineapple.

Where do you buy the stoppers, I've been looking for them for a while.

Thanks,

How are you guys going to use them? Do you make a long post with a small gather at the end? And do you have to glue them after that.

yes ok use 10mm rod and you need about 1 inch of space then a balled end.

i measure about 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 inch of rod, then either melt off or sometimes i just use my nippers and nip off the rod to the right length, then just melt and ball the end so there is about 1 inch of smooth 10mm rod.
then just put the rubber in a glass of hot tap water wait about 5 mins and slip it on. after the water drys up its real real hard to get them back off.

O ya hook the 10mm rod to your art first before you measure and cut off the rod for the ball end.

I also as you can see in picture make a maria as a base to put my art on, I think it looks better and give the user somewhere to pull on and handle with out breaking your art work

hope this helped

Sweet thanks I think these look better than the metal ones which get pitted after a time. Plus the metal one are getting pricy.

I feel like an idiot-- are you saying you make the ball on the end once you have put the rubber stopper on? It doesn't melt the rubber? Sorry for being dense.

the ball keeps the stopper from sliding off. soak in hot water to soften the rubber stopper. then once the glass is out of the kiln and cool, slide the soaked rubber over the glass gather on to the 10mm rod post. the rubber will stretch over the ball at the bottom of the post. it will prob take some strong hands. but once it's on, the ball keeps the rubber from coming off.

sorry if i didn't convey that clearly. maybe someone else can clear up what acid said for lisa.

ya make the post and ball 1st kiln your art and let it cool. After its cold then do the hot water thing and slide the rubber over the ball and on to the shaft "lol".

it does take some twisting and pushing and watch were you hang on to your art so not to brake off delicate parts.

I will post some pictures tonight of before and after

thx

i'm not sure the post is a true 10mm and it's a little fat at the end where it attaches to the maria
