No! I didn't get that far yet. I was looking more at the tools they have. I love that little flower pusher set. I definately see more tools for the *tool ho.* LOL!

You can get yourself some dapping punches if you want those flower pushers. You should be able to find them locally with no problem. http://www.contenti.com/catalog_pdf/dapping.pdf

But then I wouldn't have an excuse to get a lot of the other things, too.

I can't believe you can actually fuse glass in a microwave oven! How could it possibly get hot enough? Heidi, do you know why they were recalling them?

I've seen microwave kilns in kiddie (toy catalogs- no joke.
They are sold much like the cheapie lampwork set-ups in some craft stores, ebay etc. It always made me wonder about the safety (particularly when sold to kids).
Thanks for the link Deb, it does look like they have some interesting tools.
aloha,
Elise

You can make little microwave crucibles... some friends and I were talking about making one for metal casting. The drawback is that eventually it will ruin your microwave oven, I guess because of the extreme temperatures.

I like the *economy lake*
I've used the microwave kilns, they are basically ceramic ovens coated inside with a heat concentrating material that will enable the inside of the oven to reach the temperature of molten glass. You can only fuse small pieces of course and it is impossible to control the temperature inside enough to get any kind of annealing. Fun to play with for a while but not very useful. And there is the problem of ceramic dust too. You cannot use that microwave for anything else.
