I'm pretty new to silver glass, I've worked with it a few times. I've been concentrating on Kalypso, I think it gives me lots of practice encasing, layering, reduction color, and color interaction. My problem is inconsistent results.
The first picture is from my most recent session, #1 is ok color, the band in the midsection makes me wonder if I over heated the encased Kalypso when I was spot heating to indent for the CZ. The back of that section is less creamy looking. Bead #2 has the same creamy color across the whole bead. I wanted more of the purples and pinks, so I'm a little disappointed with the bland color. I was wondering did I over reduce the Kalypso layer?
Picture 2 shows my previous session. Bead #5 is the color I adore, the pearly shifts from amethyst, blue, highlights of fuchsia and enough cream to make it balanced. Bead #2 the whole in the color shows I way over heated the encased color and the silver was reabsorbed. I was wondering how best to shape a sensitive color. I was thinking I may need to make my major shaping changes before I reduce, then encase, then reheat and gently heat and reshape. I like putting caps on my bicones, I like the bordered look, but I have trouble adding them, my lines don't look crisp. What are some good tricks?
