How and where to use clear frits?
What is the best way to use crystal clear frits? On what sort of glass are they most likely to show up and be accentuated?

Size 0 makes nice "snowball" beads. Partially melted into a plain colored round bead for a textured sugary look.

You melt the frit partially so there are no insecure or sharp bits. If glass is breaking off it wasn't melted in enough, takes a little practice 
|

Giving the surface of the bead a serious heating with a "relatively" cool interior will make the surface 'sticky' enough to capture the frit while having a solid enough interior to maintain its shape while the frit is -pressed- into it.
It is great training for heat control and paying close attention to how much heat is how deep in the bead and how much you can warm the surface without distorting the core shape.
I would start out with the smallest clear bead you can work with because you can always melt in your mistakes and work out the details on the -ever increasing sized- bead as you go along.
A good tap of the mandrel should knock off enough frit that is loose so you shouldn't be overly concerned about it coming loose later.

You can also melt in the frit over silver glass for some cool effects when encased. The silver glass is usually reduced before the frit is added.
Also melting in the clear frit over a frit bead with any color you like can give it a vintage, crackled look.

Over anything DH and reactive. Oooo try ivory as the base, silver leaf or foil, clear frit, melt and enjoy.

I get mine from Glass Diversions, when I buy regular frit. You can include it in their sampler packs also. You might want to try more than one size, it really can be a matter of preference.
