Default How to use Aperture settings to help your bead photography.

Hey everybody.
I originally posted this graphic on the Frantz Art Glass Blog a few weeks ago. People said it was pretty helpful so I'm posting it here to. I hope it's helpful.

After I posted this
Kimberly Affleck called me at work and wanted me to talk about how to change the aperture on the camera. And I thought that's a good idea. Because cameras are all different I'll just tell you how I adjusts it on my camera.

I first set my camera to the "M" for manual controls (Not like in the photo). I then can adjust the aperture by holding the aperture button with he icon that looks like "" and then rotating the wheel right or left to open or close the aperture. After I set it, I then adjust the shutter speed.

Thanks,
Keith

It's not the Camera that takes the photo, it's the photographer.

Ok. so after reading this I couldn't figure out where my f-stop was. I searched all through the menu. So I came back to this thread and voila! We have the same brand of camera so that really helped too! Thanks so much for the wonderful tutorial!

Thank you for the wonderful graphics! I've read and read about aperature but I've just gotten my brain so twisted in knots trying to relate the numbers to results. This graphic helps so much!

Keith that looks like a Nikon...is it?

If it is I'd add to simplify the setting for people who aren't camera people, set the mode to "A"..that's aperature priority mode. You can fiddle with the aperature settings but the camera's computer takes over and sets everything else (ie adjusts the shutter speed according to the camera's metered readings)

I am not a camera person so I find it difficult to get a great shot in total manual mode. I am not sure if cameras from other manufacturers have the same camera settings.

You're welcome.

I am currently working on more graphics like this to explain more photography elements. I want to make them straight to the point and "easily digestible".

I'd love to see a Paint.net tutorial. I am determined to learn it.
