Too close to the torch perhaps?

Sometimes you can get finer soot particles of un burnt fuel that are not large enough to look like soot.

Another thought is that your oxygen purity is reduced because you are maxing out the output.
An 10 lpm oxycon's purity can drop 5 or 8 % if you are pushing out 9.7 lpm and can rise up to 98 % purity if the out put is reduced to 9.2 lpm.

Also how are your oxcons filters?
Might it be time to change them?
There are two on the intake; a course lint and dust filter and a fine powder removing filter.
Also most medical units have yet another filter on the out put line (inside the case) called a bio filter that prevents microbes from being delivered to sick people on oxygen therapy.

Could be some less then good propane....

Cheap 104 is not good for clarity....

I have found using natural gas makes my clear very nice.

Simax borosilicate it pretty darn clear. I work mostly borosilicate myself.

I agree that it sounds like you need to change or clean your filters.
You could also be too low on propane. My colors were reacting strangely one day and it turned out to be a combination that my propane tank was just too low and my oxygen concentrator filters majorly needed cleaning.
I use an Extreme Oxygen EX-15 model, now I make it a habit to clean my filters once a week and completely replace them every 6 months. It is surprising how much of a difference it makes.
