Default Cracking Bellflowers :-(

I made 15 bell flowers last night. Right after I removed them from the kiln six of them had their tops pop off and another five had visible cracks.

The glass was all the same COE (I know better) and kiln had a normal full cycle.

thanks

Duane

Are you pressing them too thin maybe? Letting them cool too much before they go in the kiln?

I've had a few do that when I stop to admire a few seconds too long before popping it into the kiln. Also, try building the glass out more from the end of the wire. I've found if the wire is too close to the top it will crack.

I have found that some colors do not like pressing. As much as I LOVE the translucent CIM colors, for example, many of them just do not survive as bellflowers, no matter how careful I am about heat control.
