24 gauge copper wire
I have a bead idea that requires the use of wire to create a bail/loop to add a dangly bead to later. It will be a small bead so not much weigh to. It. I have 24gauge copper wire on hand. Can that go in a kiln? Is there a different wire that would be a better choice?

What's your application?
Mild steel, stainless, tungsten, and niobium should work.
Copper can endup being a little soft after annealing.
Mild may rust over time.
Tungsten is brittle and does not form well.
Niobium is exepencive and likely not available locally.
stainless should be fine.
Though it all depends on the project.
At time the metal can shrink and seperate a from the glass as it cools.

I stick copper into my kiln all the time. It will come out black but that can be removed with some pickle.

Yes go for it! I have seen it done with copper before. I've even seen it carefully done with silver at the very very end of a bead.

You may want something a little heavier.
Trial and error will let you know if 24 gauge is to small.

Hi Mina,
When I make my headpins the copper goes into the kiln and it's totally fine.
They'll come out with black schmutz on them but as someone mentioned, you can pickle them to make them bright again.
I found an awesome recipe for non-toxic pickle - just 1 tbsp salt to 1 cup vinegar. Heat up a little bit on the stove and put your pieces in for just a few minutes. Works like a charm!
