Putting gold wire in beads?
Can we do this? Does it work like fine silver wire at all? Does it need to be 24K like gold leaf? A customer wanted to know and I have NO idea. Even if she supplies some snippets of wire, with gold prices the way they are I don't know if I even want the pressure. lol

You can use gold wire. Copper, also.
Not sure on the purity. I guess it depends on what you want to do. I used 22k coils and encased them.

Cool. Thanks Shawnette. I've used brass and copper...hmmm that's an idea. Maybe she'd be happy with the brass frit. I don't give a crap if I waste that.

If she's OK with brass, I found some pretty fine brass wire at the hardware store.

The brass bubbles like crazy. It is a neat effect if that is what you're going for.

I've used it very carefully & kept it cool once pretty successfully.

I'm not really sure to tell you the truth, but I think she'd prefer actual gold. I just don't want to. lol The thought of wasting gold just freezes me up, even if she provides it. She did mention she didn't really care for the look of gold leaf much
Thanks everyone, I have some brass wire and that frit (if I can find it). I'll make samples with that and see how it goes with her.

You can use 22K gold wire, but obviously it's NOT cheap. It will behave just like fine silver. A few inches of 28 or 30 gauge wouldn't be breathtakingly pricey, but it all depends on how much your customer is willing to pay.
