Question help with copper wire in lampwork

Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone out there can help me with this as I can't find anything on the site about this. I wanted to put copper wire, 16 gauge into a bead. I want to make a black bead, put the copper wire shaped into a heart approx. 8mm and cover that with clear. I don't know what copper does, and if its fumes are toxic etc. So does anyone have any ideas for me?
any and all information is greatly appreciated
thanks, Tina

Tina, try posting this question in the "Tips and Techniques" section. I think you might get more people looking at your question and more answers there. Good luck!
Try doing a search for "copper wire" in the tips and techniques section; that might give you some information.

I've seen someone make a cross on a bead with wire (looks about 20 gauge). Seems to work. I've used 26 gauge copper wire that is twisted together. I know when I first apply the wire to the hot bead it releases a cloud of fumes. I've heard/read you should have good ventilation any time you work with metals. I do encase my copper wire. You can see my copper wire bead in this collage (lower left).

I'm thinking 16 gauge might be to thick?? Did you know you can make a bead right on copper tubing! With clear glass bead you see the red tones of the copper....very pretty
