Default Photography Classes for Artists, Colors of the Stone Show, Tucson, Feb. 3-8, 2020

Single day photography and photoshop classes at the Colors of the Stone Show, Casino del Sol Resort, Tucson, Arizona, Feb. 3-8, 2020

Photography Classes
Learn the secrets of how to shoot your jewelry, glass, beads and crafts with a professional photographer and glass artist. We'll cover basic photography, how to set your camera and you'll use instructor provided lighting setups to photograph your own pieces. See what aspects make for a high quality photograph. Learn the language of studio photography, the 9 parameters of successful photos and how to produce them. We'll cover basic photography, the qualities of good lighting, composition, background materials, how to set your camera's menus, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, shooting mode, color balance and quality settings. You'll use high quality lighting setups to photograph your own pieces during class. Students should bring their own DSLR cameras and tripod to learn the proper settings for photographing their pieces. You'll leave the classes empowered to create photos as beautiful as the art you're photographing. Students should also consider taking the matching Photoshop class on alternate days.

Don't have a good DSLR camera? No problem, we’re now able to have several new Canon T6 Cameras with 18-55mm lenses and Manfrotto tripods in class. This equipment will be used during class by those students who either have an outdated camera, a point-and-shoot camera or would like to experience using a good DSLR before making a purchase. Students who think they might fall into this category need to contact the instructor prior to class to discuss and make arrangements.

Photoshop Classes
How do you get a new background behind a bead or create an art glass piece sitting on a mirrored surface? In the class two workflows will be demonstrated using Photoshop CS5 and Elements 11 on how to extract objects from backgrounds, add new backgrounds, create photo realistic shadows, special effects, and more. Students will also learn how to create color correct files of their art for use on their website, Etsy, in magazine articles, books, portfolios and for juried competitions. Compositing techniques to add new gradient backgrounds, shadows and additional special effects will be demonstrated. Plus, learn the 4 steps every artist needs to know to produce accurate files in Photoshop and how to purchase recent versions of Photoshop at far less than the full retail price. Students should also consider taking the matching Photography class on alternate days if their lighting skills are not producing quality images.
