Thanks, Toni! We did have a great class, didn't we?
I will be teaching two classes at Arrow Springs mid March, here are the descriptions (will post some pics tomorrow!):
Two Day Class - Explore the Magic of Silver Glass
In the two day workshop, you will explore the many facets of working with silver glass. For reducing silver glass you will learn how to work with different reduction flames, varying length of reducing time, and changing placements and positions of the bead in the flame to achieve various results. For striking silver glass you will learn how to achieve and recognize the "first strike," thus enabling you to duplicate the striking sequence on your own.
Once the basic technique of working with silver glass is achieved, you will learn the different ways of using silver glass to expand your repertoire. Some of the techniques we will cover include encasing silver glass, surface decoration with silver glass, silver glass twisties, and using silver glass in gravity swirls. In addition to how to achieve the best results with this mysterious glass, special emphasis will be placed on design and perfect bead shaping. With the exception of the initial instruction on how to strike and reduce spacer beads, you will be making large bicone/tubular shaped beads.
Students should be at an intermediate skill level and comfortable working on a fuel/oxygen mix torch.
Two-day class. Class hours are 9 to 5.
Cost is $400. Includes lunch and all materials.
Dates:
March 12 & 13, 2011

One-Day Class - Explore the Magic of Silver Glass II: Texture and Murrini
In this one day workshop, you will learn Hayley's approach to adding surface texture to silver glass using enamels and other embellishments, including murrinis. You will start with making your own silver glass murrinis and learn step-by-step how to create one of Hayley's Flora Series beads. Starting with a base, using both striking and reducing silver glass, you will add surface texture and stringer work and finally finish by applying your own murrinis. If time allows, Hayley will share how she encases murrinis deep within the beads yet retaining the silver glass effects.
For this one day class, students should be at an intermediate skill level and comfortable working on a fuel/oxygen mix torch, have taken Hayley's class: Explore the Magic of Silver Glass with Hayley, or have the same skill equivalence taught in that class, and can work with a large amount of molten glass.
One-day class. Class hours are 9 to 5.
Cost is $225. Includes lunch and all materials.
