Default Starting from scratch

We are wiping out our website and starting from scratch. It's a long story of lost passwords and people no longer working on the website for us. So I've been assigned to research and attempt to rebuild it. I'm clueless about building website and would love any input. The main features we need are a calendar to show our classes and events, and a store we can sell our gallery art in. Are there any user friendly templates anyone can suggest? THANK YOU!!

There are a lot of basic canned websites you can get from various
companies - you don't have to have someone custom build one
for you if you don't want to be tied to them.

I've seen a few of them done at Homestead.com.
Papashop has built a few custom ones.

I'd suggest Joomla with Seber Cart, Joomla is freeware and there are a lot of templates available (free or cheap), Seber cart's about $100. Most hosting companies have Joomla support available. I bought a book from Amazon that taught me the basics, can't remember what it's called but will look it up if you're interested....
Or Zencart, also freeware and pretty easy to use
