Question Lampwork Home Set-Up

First of all - I am so new to this that I didn't even know what a "thread" was (I'm still not sure). Anyway....
...I have taken classes and have read books and now I want to set up to make lampwork beads at home. I know about the basic equipment I'll need but my husband is speculating about issues the town and our insurance company might have. He is not one to do things on the sly - a real up and up kind of guy - he's not as boring as that sounds. Does anyone know what I might run into as far as safety regulations are concerned or what I might need to do? Thanks!!!!

Hi Nina! Welcome to the glass world. You may want to post your questions over in the safety forum (found in the library) so that the safety gurus will be able to see your post. Some of your questions may be answered in some of the threads there too. I am not one of the safety gurus so I will leave it to them to steer you in the correct path.

See you around the house.

When we added my studio on to our home, I first called our home insurance carrier and then the fire department. Our contractor took care of contacting the buildig inspector. If you are setting up a true business, there will probably be some zoning considerations if you have regular business/sales hours.
