Thanks for posting the links Susan ... I was slow getting back.

And thanks for the detail "mike". I was back on GA's site the other day and saw it was a resurrected color. I think I'll pass on that color I'm not much of a blacklight girl. Great for Vegas though!!

Those pinks are incredible!! Simple questions: what torch do you use? Could a Mini CC melt boro to make similar sized beads? Thanks! Karen

My first torch was a CC mini and yes it will melt boro. I've made some decent size boro marbles on mine. I was on tanked oxygen though....not sure what oxy supply you're using.

I just use a neutral flame. When it goes in the kiln it's just starting to go from clear to yellow etc. I do not do any flame striking, just put it in the kiln.

Fantastic, thank you. I must be doing something wrong with my kiln settings. Would you be able to tell me what kind of program you run?? Thank you so so much for this thread. It's so so valuable and saves so much time and effort!!!!
I will keep checking for reference. I have all these glasses, but I haven't been able to make them do this! If you would be willing to share your kiln settings I would be so grateful and I apologize if you already posted it somewhere. I get lost in the threads sometimes.....

I got my kiln schedule from Brent (aka Mr Smiley) way back when I got my kiln. I'm not sure how to pull it out of my Fuji controller, but I did find this thread that he posted about his schedule:

Does anyone have any pics of Pfunk from Sparkle Pants Ranch? I've been wondering what it actually looks like.

Well the kids are on summer break, we have a new puppy, and it's supposed to be 115 outside today (seriously!)... Not a lot of studio time lately LOL!

I would love to get this thread going again, and would love if anyone else wants to share any pink testing they have done. I'm sure there are still a few I have in stock that haven't tested formally yet - will try to get those done this week. Pink is for sure, after all, my favorite color to melt!!! Feel free to join in!

I actually made a piece with it last night. I'll post pics later. It's a weird color. It has a different "feel" in the flame. I put it through my regular annealing cycle and it came out transparent purple. A nice color, but not what I was looking for. I had to run it through the kiln for 2 hours at 1125 degrees to get the pink to form. And it formed more where there glass was thicker. Where it was thin it stayed transparent purple.

I haven't decided if I like it yet or not. I haven't tried it with any other colors to test its compatiblilty.

Default Color testing: Pink!

Here it is. First is under compact fluorescent lights. Second is in sunlight.

Carlos said: "work it hot, kiln @1100 for a good hour or more, then drop it to 950 for about 20 minutes, then back up to 1100 until you get the desired color." It's a pretty pink in the sunlight.
