Exclusive lampworking tips from amazing artists!
OK, I want to start a discussion and hope these tips will help all of us. I will be asking the most successful artists to a give us a great tip they use in their lampworking. Another key to their success.
I will be posting weekly so c'mon and see what is next!

I love Astrid's tip and have been applying it when using my silver glasses today. Works like a charm.
I have a burning question because of something that happened recently:
1. When you torch on another torch with another source of oxygen (concentrator vs. tanked O2) does it affect your color that much?
I was at a friends home and she has a GTT Cheetah with tanked propane and O2. I have a GTT Cricket (which I LOOOOOOVE) with O2 concentrator and propane. She wanted me to teach her how to get the great colors from the silver glasses and I could not no matter what we changed or tweaked with the gases get good color from her set up.
I usually work with very low (short candle) heat while torching silver glasses. My concentrator will say 3 lpms and my propane is at 1. The flame is oxygen rich.
What my very long winded question is, is it easier to get great color with lower heat? When I was at my friends we weren't able to get any color. We weren't over reducing either.
There is my novel........Thanks!

The link doesn't work for me for some reason. I guess I'm not meant to see the amazing hints.

It says, "Done, but with error on page". It's a pretty purple blank screen with a banner up top.
It's no biggie. I'll live.

Everyone keeps saying brilliant and I just have to laugh, bwaaaaaaa ha ha.
I think a weekly tip is a good way to try something without overloading our already overbooked schedules. Also, I can handle getting it together.
I really appreciate the interest. You all are so kind.

what browser and version do you have? I've got several different ones so maybe I can help track down if that's the problem.

This week's tips are from Angela Greer Garren! Her work is so amazing and I have always been intriqued with it because of the strong spiritual component. Please come read and let me know what you think or if you have anything to add!

Very nice blog Kitty, I'll be checking it out weekly for new tips and tricks. Wish I could help ya out with that "concentrator vs tanked" question, but I don't use either and rarely use silver glass.

Kitty - Silver glass is definitely affected by different torch set-up and flame chemistry but not necessarily easier to get colors with lower heat (I usually work pretty hot). It's a matter of first getting the best oxygen/fuel setting - by experimenting - then getting the best reduction flame - again by experimenting. Moreover, each reducing silver glass reacts differently too so that's another added variable! Hope that answers your question. What's your friend's set-up in terms of psi for oxygen and fuel and which glasses did you use?
