December show Merry Christmas
Couldn't wait to post these blown ornaments. I am finally getting some shapes that I am happy with. This glass blowing stuff is hard but through practise and pouring over the glass bible it is improving.

those look great, Deb. just a question, are they completely sealed or do they have a little hole somewhere? If they are, you may want to try putting hollow and open loops on them. One issue you can have with completely sealed ornaments like this is that when the sun hits them you may get trapped condensation showing as droplets precipitating on the inside wall. Having a hollow loop on them will allow any condensation to leave the interior space.
Some beginning of month work from me. You've probably seen the deviated eyeball montages I posted last month, and this is what the pieces actually look like ... one from yesterday and a couple of iSlides from today.

well the "i" is short for eye and a slide is a receptacle which sits in a fitting on a waterpipe, so I put it together into iSlide

Really cool marble-looks like gold and silver fume in just the right amounts to give you green. Excellent!

I know its not a clever implosion, or a fancy marble or even a beautiful eye... but I made it, and its boro and the longest drop is 3.5 inches...

BERNIE!!! Man it's been a while, how are you? Don't be a stranger if you're ever out my way, please. We're back in our studio now after the poo flood and we're almost there with a teaching space, getting so I might have to invite you some time to teach! Nice pendant btw, you're rocking the boro!

Love those eyes in the rings. I made some as pendants earlier in the fall. Its funny the reactions from people they either really like it or go 'that's creepy I would never wear that'.

Hi Chris, I'm glad you got the studio cleaned up and working again, I must try to get down your way I would love to come and play glass with you. I made it down to Tassie recently and dropped in on Jan at Sheffield, she has an amazing collection of stuff worth seeing!! Sorry I didn't have time to stop in Melbourne though.
cheers, Bernie

VERY nice work so far this month! These are to be made into wine stoppers for Aunt Bobbie's Christmas present. She likes daffodils. Maybe not the pink one, it's waaaay too bubbly.

What inspiration you all leave when you post pictures, thank you for dragging my butt back to boro. Oh how I've missed it!
Simple pendant from me, just in time for the season.
Hugs,
Nita

I really need to find a dvd to watch. I wonder if the library would order them for me. I was excited though, because on Friday I made an off mandrel implosion pendant and did not drop it in my lap, burn the mandrel or mess up the loop. Its far from perfect but I think I am headed in the right direction. Next time I take pictures I will post my results.
I did make this bead, which I really love the color on.

Say, Effemess in post #11 - that necklace is really beautiful. Just goes to show that you do not need all the 'fancy difficult stuff' to make something really nice.

Thank you - I don't have the ability yet to make really fancy, difficult stuff - but I took my necklace to two fairs one on Saturday and the other on Sunday - didn't sell it, but loads of compliments at the second fair.. and I also sold two of my boro implosion pendants and three boro necklaces (along with a lot of soft glass necklaces). It was quite interesting really, I've only ever sold boro beads to jewellery makers, never made my own up into jewellery, because I thought that the great unwashed wouldn't understand the difference... Well - I put a good price on my boro necklaces and each person who bought one just homed in on them in an instance, took them off their stands and said, "this one please" - which is really unusual - and no, they didn't know they were boro, but obviously something about them caught their eye.... verrrry interesting
