Question Question re Propane

Hey guys! I feel really stupid asking this question. I have a National 8m and work out of an exposed lower level. I use tanked oxygen. I have read in some places that the propane should not be wide open. I do have a regulator on it. Any opinions on this one?

Not wide open... What does that mean???.... YES tank valve should be wide open, two reasons... One is that it will not freeze in partially open position and you can't close it... Two is if in emergency you can possible ad to problem by turning tank valve wrong way. IF valve will only turn one way CLOSED, it lessens the possibility of adding to problem...

You only use regulator to controll propane pressure to torch and it should be about half of the oxygen pressure for soft glass work... Propane tank valve is strictly for on-off control of propane tank...

Torch valve can be open any amount. Its essential in controlling proper mix of fuel and oxygen DEPENDING on flame size you desire...
