Aesome tut. I an going to try this sometime this week for sure. A quick question would be the first portion of the tut where you form a ball of glass - what size do you suggest that to be ?
Thanks

Laurie L,
Sorry I forgot to mention the size. I started with a 6mm rod, which is the general size of moretti rods. After letting it ball up I would guess it would be around 14mm or 1/2 inch.
The larger you make your ball the more attention you have to pay to heat shock.
I have made them as large as 4" in dia. starting ball.
Thanks again,
Mike

Soft or Boro?
Beachbeads,
I used both. The clear one is boro. the little gray one is moretti.
Thanks,
Mike

I tried this tute last night and it's great! I need to work on my heat control so it's a little wonky, but the tute was spot on! I'll post a pic when I get my camera fixed.
Thanks!

Hey Mike thanks for posting this, learning it has taken me up a level in off-hand work.
I've been practising the tech you describe and I can do passable items up to about three inches long in boro. I leave a 'stick' attached vertically to the dolophin's stomach, drill a clearance hole in a nice wooden base and Bob's your uncle.
Thanks again, I'm very grateful for your help.
