Default Fine silver question...

I'm looking to get some fine silver to add to my beads. Question is, what's the most common gauge? Generally I use 22g when making jewelry. Would that be a good start? Or should I go smaller like 28-30g? And then the big question...how do you apply the silver? LOL I'm not totally green...I am just ready to venture out with silver & etching. Any help would be great. Thanks, Teresa

You don't want to use 22g because it's too big for beads. I use 28g for adding silver to my beads.

Thank you Alexm. Very helpful and I appreciate your advice. 28g it'll be.

I use 30 gauge and 28 both, and they both work fine.

Thanks ladies...looks like I'm going to have to get a couple different sizes and see what works best for me. But I really do appreciate the help. Have a great day! Teresa

If you already have 22guage then you can pull it thinner. I know that I sent out some RAOGK packages with 22 guage fine silver wire in it, and just told them to pull it thinner... I will have to look at my books on how to pull it thinner but it should not be a problem.
