Default help from those who make/design tools

I need alittle help from those of you who design and make tools, or engineering types....
My father makes knives for fun and "profit" (about like most of us, more fun than any profit). I was telling him about the Stahl brass knives that everyone has been raving about. Now he wants to just make me a knife like those antique knives.

I would like to know the dimensions...especially the width/thickness of the brass. Any ideas? He has several sheets of thin brass to choose from. I said everyone liked those knives because they were somewhat flexible and thin.

Those of you who design or make tools....any helpful suggestions?

thanks in advance
Kristin

6" long (blade 3.2''); blade 0.6'' width, paper thin on the thickness.

I have 2 of the Stahl knives. I wish the handle was a little longer.

I wish I could find a Stahl knife with a broken handle that nobody wants, then he can just make me a handle.

I think I'm going to have him make me a marver instead of a "knife"

Any thoughts on the best size? Anyone want to send pics of their favorite marver? Brass I thought was best.....

Default making knives

This was right up my alley, for I am knifemaker for money and a lampworker for fun. If your dad forges his blades, he can easily shape a marver out of brass stock. You need to heat it and work it lightly for it will crack, it is not as malleable as steel, but makes amazing marvers. If he does stock removal for his blades, brass works really easy and no need to heat treat. I've enclosed one I made for myself and it is my go to tool. Nothing like a homemade tool!
