Question Dichro wondering out loud

I figured I'd ask the Collective Wisdom before getting all complicated and wasting my time.

I've collected little bits of dichro for years, about the size of #1 frit or slightly larger. I've made stringer with it a few times, but it scums pretty easily. Yesterday I was at the local studio, and there were a few fusers talking, and a possible light bulb went off. Could I spread the dichro bits on a glass sheet and melt it in, then cut the strips to make beads? Would too much air get trapped?

Thanks for your thoughts!

Interesting idea. I donít think that bubbles getting trapped would be much of an issue if you use a conservative fusing schedule. Not sure whether the edges might become scummy during the fuse but if they did Iíd expect the scum to be visible in the beads. However maybe they would melt in pretty nicely. Iíve not tried it but it seems like a reasonable thing to try.
