Default Free Glass for BOC Groups!

I have 5 flat rate boxes of glass to give to BOC Bead Making Groups. One box per group. If You are associated with one of these groups and need glass please contact me. I do need some proof that you are really making beads for BOC such as a website with a date set up for the group to be making beads.
To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

I already have contacted the FGD but I still have another 5 boxes after that. All of the glass right now is 104.

Thanks.

We here at SGB NorCal group just participated in the BOC Sept. 15th "Flame Off" and we pool BOC beads together every month. This month we have another big push for making hearts and butterflies for BOC so we're having a flame-day meeting at Bay Area Glass Institute on the 27th to use their torches and make BOC beads... Sharon Peters is the organizer of the group along with Jim Kervin. We're always happy to get donation glass for out BOC bead making events every month... You can contact Sharon for more info

Paula, the Smoky Mountain Firecrackers are in the planning stages for some Beads of Courage play dates. We are a small group, but I think we were the third largest contributor last year. We would love to have some glass to keep on hand for that use. I can only refer you to our Facebook page, which will have some updates in the next week or so. I will PM you some more info.

I am going to do this FCFS. I do have to verify website or such so that I can legally take the write offs for the glass gifts at the end of the year! I am happy to see so many groups doing this and even happier that I can participate via glass gifts since

a.) I have a lot of glass and
b.) I have no personal torch time to make my own beads and probably won't for a while.

Ok I need a few more groups. I am sending out nice glass and not shorts or junk, btw. Will probably start early next week. Thanks.

Default TOOOOOO Cool Paula!!

Paula,
I just want to say, this offer is simply awesome! I am a little bit out here by myself in Reno, so no group (I do belong to the NorCal SGB but they are 4 hours away!!) but I just want to tell you this really is a great thing to offer!
I have some purple hearts I made with some 96 Gaffer samples I got at the Gathering (since it wouldn't go with any of my 104!) and am getting more to send in....in fact, I was just telling some friends of mine that are nurses here locally about BOC; they didn't know anything about it.

I mean this sincerely--I really love this community! The sharing and caring are wonderful--so thanks for being a big and kind part of it!

Smiles, Sheri

Thanks Sheri,
I am trying to figure out how to support individual beadmakers as I know that there are some that donate huge amounts of their time.
I do have the first box ready and I am super proud of how much glass I was able to jam into it! This particular box is all Lauscha.

The box is on its way but I did shoot a photo with my phone so I will see if I can figure out how to get that loaded onto LE.

Email yourself the photo; it will ask you what size to send it--choose small--that size uploads right to the LE User CP/Photos--otherwise you'll have to resize (ask me how I know!!!)

Sadie, Sorry, I don't get to the internet much during the week. Day job and Flamedame.Com take up most of my time!

Thanks Kathy. Hope you can do a lot with it. Second on my list is the Norcal Group. I sent Sharon a PM but haven't heard back. Maybe someone in the group can get to me with an OK and shipping info. Next box will go out next week. I just had another POD delivered today so will be buried with that and furniture moving over the weekend. Moving was the easy part. Unpacking is a witch.

Kathy did everything get there in one piece? Some of the rods are thick but they melt easily.

Paula, it was all perfect. Several of us use Lauscha, so it will not be scary, lol. I wish I could figure out how to get the picture from my ipad to here. I will try it again tomorrow. I think I am going to have to email it to myself and resize it on my laptop.

Grapevine Beadmakers Society has a BOC Beadathon scheduled for Thursday, November 15 from 5-8 p.m. It's not up on the website yet because our business meeting and demo were just last night so they haven't updated it yet.

The Virginia Firebirds do BOC beadmaking. I'm not sure when the next BOC event will be, but I can ask Lisa St. Martin if that is being planned. You are awesome, Paula!

Jeanne did contact me early on for your group. Actually I got 3 contacts from your group so they must be pretty dedicated! Jodi, do you have an address as to where I should send the box? I am putting another one together this week. Thanks.

Society of Artisan Lampworkers in San Antonio (SALSA) collects beads at our bi-monthly meetings and in February we always make purple hearts and act of courage beads, plus our demo beads also go to BOC. I'll have to check the website - I finally had time to start one back in May and haven't updated it much - I don't have internet access at my house....... BUT we would love to have some glass donated (we have lots of new people that are interested in making beads and it would be great to be able to have free glass for them to use!) You are so awesome to do this.

Hi Paula,

Thanks so much for the glass for BOC. We made Christmas themed beads last week after the Firebirds quarterly meeting. We'll use it soon.

Hope all is well with you....haven't gotten to chat much since ya made the move to Florida.

Thanks again,

Hugs,

Lisa

Paula,
Thank your for donating to the Firecrackers. I appreciate it. and like Kathy and Ali said it will make a lot of beads.
Someone you might think about sending some to is Ginger in Texas. She is the top contributor every year and makes all the beads herself that she donates. Something like close to 5000 beads last year I think, maybe more.

Thanks for all the input. I am behind on getting out the boxes but hope to get to it this weekend! (Day Job. Grumble.Grumble.) I hope the fatter rods are ok and the colors too! I figured that with all of this experience you would know how to pull down a fat rod and how to work just about any color!

I sent out 2 more boxes last week and am wondering if they got to where they were supposed to??? One was to you Lisa and one was to Norcal.

Shari, i LOVE ginger. But my CPA tells me that I have to donate to organizations and I have to be able to prove that they used the glass for BOC.
