Silly me. All this time because of the "heat the tread" bit I have been trying to AVOID getting any heat in the center. No wonder my implosions take forever!!! Not to mention the huge divot that I then have to flatten out, destroying my design in the process. Must try this again...

Laura I mainly heat the trend but because my torch is small the heat doesn't penetrate to the centre so I will flash the back, then the front, then focus on the tread repeatedly. I also don't allow the centre divot too get deep, I will push the marina on the marver to help keep it flat(well not completely). But I must say I learned this with trial and error as I haven't taken any lessons so anything I say is from what works for me.

Default Houston, I have a floral Implosion!

Could have picked a different background color but I finally figured it out. Implode, implode, implode, and when I think I'm done implode some more. Thanks everyone.

Are you kidding your mind will going a mile a minute. You will be looking at every flower and wondering how you can duplicate it in glass.
I just posted some pictures on my face book page 'Works in Glass' on the step by step process of implosions if any one is interested in looking. Its not detailed but you may get some tips from it. This is the piece I made, I am having some issues encasing experimental green but other than that I like it.
