Default Starter Kit?

Hi everyone,

I'm just getting into lampwork (have been playing with a hot head and sampler pack of glass) and I'd like to purchase a kit with everything included (except tanks) to get started with a more permanent set up. I've been looking at the kits offered by sundance glass (either the minor or mega minor) as well as the torch and supplies at devardi glass. Can anyone speak to these options and if they're good starting points?

Thanks!
G

I don't know if you've check Mountain Glass Arts yet, but they have starter kits too. They are really great people to work with there too. You may want to call them, let them know what you have, what you want, what you want to do, and they can help you decide.

Thank you Karen. I ended up buying a setup with the Bobcat from Mountain Glass. Then I got lucky and found a mini cc on ebay with the auction about to end and picked it up for $100. I figure I can learn on both. My understanding is that they're good for different things so I may find that I want to keep both.

Now to figure out the oxy situation!

I'm working with an oxycon, but to be honest, I could use 2. 1 is perfect with my cricket, but 2 would be ideal with my mini cc. Or one that produces more oxy at least. We have an electrician coming in at the beginning of May to do some upgrades. One of them will be to add more outlets/circuits to my torching area. Once that is done, I plan to purchase a second oxycon.
