Default How Was This Done?

I've seen a boro pendant which I think is really cool. It looks like a reverse implosion; in other words the pieces of the implosion go into the pendant rather than radiating out.

Ask the person who made it. It also might be a good idea to ask for permission to repost or use the photo.

It was not my intention to get blasted, just asking a question. Photo has been removed and question rephrased.

It wasn't done using a plunged stringer method.

add a silver color to the end of a tube, encase color with clear, blow out thin, place large dots on it,shrink back down.

I'm not a boro expert by any means but is this what you're looking for?

I you can do it by just adding clear dots to a gather of fumed or saturated silvered glass like caramel or blue moon.

I usually hit the gather with a slightly reducing flame to bring the metals up...add my clear dots...then bring my flame back to oxidizing to finish the pendant.

It is a honey comb Candice... a search for "boro honey comb" might bring up what you're looking for...

So, basically it's a tubing implosion, except you lens the back side?

Anyone who wants the basics of working tubing and doing an implosion should check out Mr. Smiley's post.

I was going to ask if this could be achieved by not blowing in a tube. I'm a beginner with working with boro and I've not graduated yet to working with tubes. But I see the honeycomb method doesn't require that. Thank you all so much for helping me out on this. I didn't mean to offend anyone with the photo, I apologize. I didn't know if it could be described and you all would understand. Thank you Brent, your DVD has been of wonderful help for me.

They do look the same - in negative space (that is).

One was done with a silver glass, and one was done with silver fume.

Hey, I understood your directions, both times! Course, I've made a few honeycombs already, so maybe my comprehension doesn't count.

The pieces may not look the same, but it's the same technique... the first picture was a larger bubble and looks as if there was a layer of color over the clear... if you blow a big thin layered bubble, before placing your dots, when it's reduced, it creates a deeper thicker clear lens. I'm not sure where that first picture came from, but it looks like some i've demoed... and the color just didn't come out very good... working with silver glass on deep encasements is tough to keep the colors clear and bright... it takes a lot of heat. It also takes speed in execution... something that talking your way through a demo makes impossible.

The dynamics and physics behind this technique is really cool... lots of fun playing with blowing out bubbles and seeing what happens when you place a design on the surface with clear and then reduce them again...

Believe it or not, this is the same technique... I just used a white core, then amber purple, then clear, blew it out and instead of doing clear dots, i used 3mil and drew a squiggle pattern... then i turned it into a heart once it was reduce down to a solid gather... once you know how to do something, put your own spin on it... the honey comb if done well is an amazing tech in it's basic state... and even more fun when you draw outside the lines.
