*confused*
Are you saying you didn't see the photos? In post a page back, posted by PracticalMagicGlass post #587, photos also quoted by Kalera so they are there twice.
I tried looking for beads of my own but I'm not seeing any, they were trash so no reason to keep them since the silver pinged out. But anyways without photo just a yes or no on silver coming off as posted in my previous post..later or while still in the torch, and if it's just stable period.
Anyone?

Lol, yes I can see them... I dont know what I thought you wrote down as a post # but I kept looking for 157... I can tell you that it wasnt there I was very tired at a time, and thats all the excuse I have for my brain fart. Sorry!
I even went back to your post to show you that you posted #157... and as you can believe, my case fell apart... *hangs head in shame*

Kalera, Thanks for sharing all this wonderful info. I love the leaves you posted in Tuesday's Gallery. Are they made off mandrel? I like the look of the stem that way as opposed to a "bead" stem.

Thank you! This will make it much easier for me to make my loops as I was melting it completely off except a short piece and then trying to pull it...d'oh!

I got them from Frantz and I think they were under ten bucks... of course, that was ten years ago, but I bet they''re still pretty inexpensive!

Kalera, I was looking on ebay and saw these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ceremony-15-...item1c1efa199f
They are yummy. I bought a sweater today that would go pefect with these. Would you share how you made them? If not, I understand.
Thank-you either way.

I melted a small gather of Uroboros Plum and rolled it in the frit, then made the bead with the hot frit gather. It devits like crazy, which is one of the reasons I tumbled them; tumbling also brings out the earthy colors IMO.

Thank-you! They are just yummy. Sadly, I don't have any of the glass needed to make some but I may just have to give mixing some glass a whirl! I looks like fun. Thanks again for sharing!

Can you elaborate on the tumbling? I've always wanted to try it but haven't a clue. Do you use just regular steel shot and for how long do they need to be tumbled?

Actually, I don't use shot at all (and if you normally use your tumbler for polishing, you'll want a dedicated barrel just for etching) I use abrasive tumbling media and grit, to wear away at the surface of the beads. It takes eight hours or so, but I love the finish, and the lack of chemicals! There's an awesome thread on tumbling, let me see if I can find it...
I think this is the one: http://www.lampworketc.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=138057

Awesome! Thanks so much, I'll go read it. One quick question though, what do you use for "abrasive tumbling media"? Is it something I can buy commercially? I HATE etching beads, this might be just the thing I need to figure out. And buying another tumbler is another tax write-off too!
