Boro Animals!
Hello LE,
I'm starting this thread to see what animals people have been making with boro. I usually make my animals from soft glass, but I know there are some really cool things done with boro too! I would like this thread to be an open discussion so be prepared to answer proving questions about techniques/colors/methods etc. Lets see how many animals we can make!!!
All animals are okay, whether it's a jelly inside a pendant, or a twenty foot tall freestanding tree sculpture that's taken 5 years to construct from small torched pieces. The only requirement is that it's made of lampworked borosilicate/pyrex.
Cheers!

As tokens for friends who have lost pets, ( dogs ) I have made little glass dogs with wings on them to give them as a memorial. I make them out of clear only, they are really beautiful I will see if I can get a picture of one I still have. Mostly they have all been Golden Retrievers and one Yorkie and a Doxie. I would suggest that when starting out you use clear. And stay small. Remember you must keep your figure hot, all of it, not just the part you are working on. I make some things first, as prep for animal. For dog angels I make the tail, the wings and set aside, then easy to add on when I get the body head and legs right. Only color I use for these is jet black for tiny eyes.

I bought a tut from Pipyr a couple years back on making weird animals. Her imagination is incredible! These are a few I did. Thanks for taking a look.

I could go on about the technical skill shown in this piece, etc, but frankly? It could have been the first piece of glass you ever melted and I'd love it - half a Goanna as a bottle stopper? That's hilarious! I wish I could come up with fun ideas like this.

Turtle
I just started using Boro recently. I need more oxygen, so these are slow for me to make. This is my third turtle.
