CIM blues
What's your favorite blue?
I am ordering glass and want a pretty blue. I use periwinkle a lot and it's just not doing it for me anymore. I like to work with CIM colors so if you have a blue that you love from them let me know. I have leaky pen and that's too dense.

The French Blue is intense. Electric blue is a very intense dark opal turquoise.

Glacier for light blue...french blue for darker blue. Love them both.

Chalcedony is a lot like periwinkle. There are several new Cim blues - Ming, Pulsar and Sapphire. Halong Bay also is lovely.
And then there are all the wonderful Bullseye blues ...

The chalcedony is gorgeous. I love the CIM opals, the color doesn't burn out like the Italians.
From what I understand they have a new blue coming out, too.

have you tried layering leaky pen over clear to dilute the colour?

Kryptonite!!!! It is very close to the Tiffany blue that I love. Otherwise....I don't work with too many blue. Just not a blue person, I guess.

I like the CIM blues too. I like all the CIM colors. They are lovely and well behaved! I don't really like blue too much either! But I make beads out of it anyway, because lots of people love blue!
I think all those years in private school wearing navy skirt and blue oxford shirts just wore me out on blue!

Thank you Kathy!
Woohoo! Just yesterday I received an RAOGK in the mail.
One rod of each of the CIM blues, including the new ones! They are so beautiful. Last night I would keep picking them up and fondling them - all those fantastic blues in one place. My family didn't quite understand
Tomorrow I have a play day and I can't wait!
Thank you Kathy Seamands from CIM!! What a fantastic surprise!

Because of this thread, I've put up the 2 pages of the charts to show all the CiM Blues. Of course, as soon as their next new colors are released, I can no longer say that. Anyway, here they are:

Awww That was a nice thing for Kathy to do!!! I don't have a favorite per say because I too have not found a color I didn't like but try using leaky pen over a base and add some reactive colors to it. You'll be amazed at the results!!!!

Thanks. Not many of the CiM colors react with Ivory, but Electric Avenue is one of them. Pulsar and Leaky Pen are 2 others. Have fun playing!

Thanks for the charts Kay!
I used the chalcedony yesterday (and sold the bead already today!) to make an ocean bead. It's TDF!
I'm working on Amber's scale beads and am going to try some of these blues for the scales.

This really helped! I have just started making my own lampworked eyes for dolls and have been having a hard time with my blues charring from being too hot.
I switched to the CiM blues and they are turning out much better! Much more stable and they help stabilize the other blues as well.

Halong bay is just lovely. A bit stiff but the semi-transparent is amazing.
I like to use it just on it's own in beads that have raised swipes on them.

Old thread, I got confused!
Anyways a lot that are mentioned are discontinued if you don't know, still upset about losing some of these
"Discontinued Messy Colors
Our resellers have given feedback that it is costly to carry the entire Messy Color line since some of the colors sell so slowly and are essentially duplicated by other manufacturers.
In addition, we have found our energies tied up in reproducing some difficult-to-melt and slow selling colors. We are looking forward to melting new & exciting colors instead of replicating that which is already available.
We have decided to resolve this situation by discontinuing the following items:
511140 Lipstick
511223 Pumpkin
511479 Soylent
511505 French Blue
511512 Halong Bay
511571 Cornflower
511652 Count von Count
511653 Larkspur
511703 Butter Pecan
511717 Khaki
ALL stringers with the exception of Hades, Tuxedo, Clear, & Peace.
As we sell out of the above colors in 2011, we will not reproduce them.
Most of the above colors have equivalents available in the 104 palette."
