I'm taking Smiley's class!! Whooo hoooo!
Hi everyone! I just had to pop in and say how thrilled I am. I took Smiley's class today and am taking another one tomorrow. I'm so tickled with the results I had today. YOU WON'T BELIEVE IT! lol
Everything was in the kiln when I left but I will post to show you all very soon, that is, if you're interested in seeing it.
Just have to say what a terrific instructor Brent is, and boy oh boy can he handle that glass!

Hey Carrie: He was raving about how much fun he had in Asheville with youse guys.
I was in the 1st day of the advanced class today. FUN, FUN, FUN! Brent really is an awesome teacher. Even with PITA students like us!
I think the soft glass world has lost Joanna! Long live Jo Jo the Bo Ho!

I almost didn't post this picture, I didn't want to scare anyone! lol
My chest is scorched from the radiating heat, my face is pale and drained after a long two days of instruction, and Smiley was making us stick our heads out like chickens... (don't ask) Patty and Smiley look good though!

A little background behind this pic.... we were working on implosions and Smiley hands me this long rod I had no control over, I mean, literally, I was jabbing the girl next to me with my elbow... so I got frustrated and picked up a MUCH smaller rod... then 3/4 way into my implosion I realized how painful it is to have your hand THAT close to the flame. lol... I'm such a baby... I haven't grown that "hot boro flame skin" yet... I'm still working on that.

Joanna, I so wanted to take that class but my DD was in a band that performed at UofI on Sat. It's always wonderful to see your kid on the football field in Memorial Statium, but, dang, Brent's class sounded like fun! Glad you all had a great time! Hope your "sunburn" isn't too bad.

Here's the stuff I made on Sunday. The icicle is very wonky, but I love the pink from the gold fuming. Very cool. My flowers are getting better, although I still can't get the good color.
I had such a great time. I can't wait to see what came out of the kiln from Monday. I did an ornament and a wessel. Some other stuff, too.
