Question newby oxy Questions

just got my redmax and excited to be melting glass however I can not find any info on what psi to set my regulators at. Also I burnt through a whole tank of oxy in a couple hours. The torch seems to be a little too hot glass melting almost right away in the heat. I managed to pull a couple points and some color stringers but it seems i got oxy set to high i would think the tank should last longer. Any help would be greatly apreciated. surface mix with a premix top working boro.

Torches - Bench Burners
Nortel Red Max Lampworking Torch

Found this on line. Let's you know the rec pressures. Good luck and that's a nice torch.

The RED MAX Bench Burner is a powerful stainless steel surface mix bench burner with your choice of the Minor bench burner surface mix head mounted on top or a Premix head on top. The top mount head is seperately controlled. The "RED MAX" Bench Burner supplies flames up to 1 ½" diameter with the large burner and up to ¾" diameter with the top mount burner.
With the new design of this bench burner you get a much more focused, uniform, cleaner, hotter flame than you can get with the original square headed Major bench burner.

RECOMMENDED OPERATING PRESSURES:

.25 to 5 PSI of Gas and 5 to 15 PSI of Oxygen

Thanks. I read that somewhere but somehow missed the last part lol. Well off to get more oxy and try again. I had propane at about 3 and oxy close to 12. I turned it down a bit it was much more manageable till I ran out of oxy.

I've had my Redmax for just about a year now and YES, it will suck a smaller O2 tank dry in just a couple of hours if you're running the big torch all the time. I use the top mount (I have the minor) torch for 90% of the work, and then only use the main torch to melt something in or to massively heat the entire piece.

I used to run a Red Max, that thing could eat some serious oxy. I ran it on two m15 concentrators and running at full pressure they could only supply maybe 75% of the oxygen that the big torch wanted.

I have a Cheetah, which also "eat" oxygen. I had to go to concentrators because of the shop location.
