Emiko help
Keep the bead release hot. Foot print. Make the bead. Kiln anneal.
Easy peasy.
How the hell do I get it off the mandrel?!?! My release isn't broken, the bead is clear and I can see the release is fine. Help!

Freeze it, soak it, freeze it, soak it.
Oh, and hold the mandrel with wire cutters right next to the bead, just tight enough that you know you have a really good grip on the mandrel, and push, pull, and twist that sucker off. You'll ruin the mandrel, most likely, but I'm sure you have plenty of those.

If you can break the release squirt some wd 40 in between.
Try soaking in vinegar to break the release.
Or Send it to me. My BF can get it off.
eta...for next time...

I have to use my bench-top grip vice to hold the smaller end while I tug on the bead with a rag.
On the "up side", the more you use the emiko mandrel the more the toothy-surface for the bead wears down... it does eventually get easier to get the bead off..

Oh. I'm an idiot. I didn't realize you were asking about a specific mandrel.

Here's what I do with stubborn beads: Place the mandrel tightly in a vice with the bead close to the vice (so the mandrel doesn't get bent). Wrap the finger of a rubber glove around the bead. Grab the rubber glove wrapped bead with some plyers and twist.
Works every time!

I haven't had any issues with my Emiko mandrel, even from day one (I've had mine just under a month)
