Just getting hang of using silver mesh but when I encase in clear it turns yellow. Any suggestions as to why or how to fix?

Use a different clear and don't heat it too much before or after you encase.

Clear glass that won't turn silver yellow:
Effrete (Moretti), Zephyr, Vetrofond (104)
Lauscha and Aether will turn silver yellow.

I use Lauscha clear and my silver mesh turns red in the finished bead.

In that case try using a cooler flame when you encase. It's helpful to use the stringers because they melt quickly without a lot of heat.

Depending on your design a really really pale blue will work like a charm, and no one will be the wiser.
Then I suggest experimenting with other colors... It gets addictive!

Fine silver turns golden when in the first throws of oxidation. The nature of your flame, where you put it in the flame and how will affect the results, not only the nature of the clear. I use almost exclusively Effetre and depending on the conditions I work in, it can stay silver or turn yellow.
When jewelers heat silver to solder or anneal it, they use flames that for us are reducing, with much more propane compared to the oxy so I think our flames are oxidizing and the silver needs to be kept out of them as much as possible if you don't want it to oxidize.
