Default lampworking with dichroic 104coe

I have been experimenting using dichroic 104coe into beads in the flame and notice that the dichroic completely burns away, even with the dichroic side of the rod away from the flame........has anyone had success using dichroic in beads? what technique is best to keep the film from burning away......

this dichroic glass was bought in sheets that have been strip cut 1/4 inch wide

There are definitely different qualities of dichroic glass. Sandberg coatings are the best quality. I always ask for Sandberg now because I have had lots of problems with the light blue colors. I have picked up dichro on sale but I have much better results with the Sandberg rainbow and gold colors. Copper and silver colors are good too. What color are you using?

Dichro has to be used in a gentle flame. You are probably working too hot. Don't heat it too much until it's encased. Work it slow and use the heat sparingly.

If you are cutting from sheet, another thing to try is to encase it first

or slump it first, that rounds down the edges so the dichro is protected from the heat
