Default Paragon SC2 Kiln--HtdE Error message--Help!

I am getting the error message HtdE on my Paragon SC 2 kiln with bead door. I cannot find any information in the product manual or even on the Paragon website! Sheesh! Can anyone here help me?

This is what is says on the Paragon web site: "HTDE (High Temperature Deviation) The temperature is too high during either a firing ramp or a hold. When HTDE appears, the controller will shut off the kiln. This is a safety measure. HTDE is the only temperature deviation alarm that will shut off the kiln. It does not say what to do to correct it. Here is the URL where I found it. http://www.paragonweb.com/faqinfo.cfm?faqid=98 Hope it helps.

Thank you very much! I could not find this. Even searching HTDE didn't turn anything up. Weird. Now if anyone has any idea how I fix it, that would be terrific!

I am not sure what controller you have but here is a manual that gives some trouble shooting tips. Maybe this will give you a starting point. Look on page 11.

What were you doing when you got the error? If you were holding at garage temp is it possible you put a hot bead in to close to the thermal coupler and sent the temp over the hold temp.

I had just turned it on and set the program to warm up while I got ready to torch. It hit around 1100 and started to beep and give me the error message. No torching for me today.

I'll try and help...I have a Paragon SC2BD.

Couple quick questions:

1. What type of glass are you using? (So I have an idea of what you're aiming for in ramp, hold, etc.)

2. What is your current programed schedule? Take me through what you have programed/or how it reads when you turn on the kiln, starting at "Idle". Pressing the up arrow for each stage of the program and tell me what it reads...?

I have a "broken" SC2 right now also and a woman named Susan who works at Paragon is being great helping me on the phone. Their service service is free and very helpful. You might want to consider calling her at 972-288-7557. Good luck.

I second calling Susan- she helped me a couple of months ago, and diagnosed the problem over the phone- very nice and very helpful!

Good luck! I know what a pain it is to have your kiln down. Laura
