Well done, what size is that looks to be about the size of an american nickel? If so that explains some of your issues, the 3/4 inch diameter is a good size to keep a good heat base but yet be able to reheat it with a small torch.

Almost one inch! They are all about the same. Funny cause I didn't try for that to happen. Of course if I did it would't have worked...

Looks like my "guesser" is out of whack today. A one inch marble will hold the required heat for a long time, 30 - 45 seconds at least, so while you need to work quickly there is no need to rush. The key is keeping the heat even. THe last bit of glow should fade slowley from the center. Before I make an assumption, are you using COE104 or COE33?

I just reread the first post, and you state that you are using Effetre which is 104. When I started I worked exclusively in 104 and while I tried a bunch of different things at first I settled on marbles. There is a lot to learn just making marbles.

Stick with marbles for at least another month, like I said I did marbles for an entire year before getting more adventurous. There is a lot to be learned form a simple ball of hot glass. Reading the heat base is one.
