Default Judy Carlson at Craft Guild of Dallas Jan 8, 9 & 10th

Judy Carlson will be teaching her wonderful fishies and beach beads at the Craft Guild of Dallas.

FISHING 101 on Jan 8 & 9, 2010 - $400.00 (glass not included)

A Sea of Techniques

Ever since Judy Carlson began lamp working, she has turned her love of the ocean into glass beads. Join Judy for a full day of creating sea theme beads from glass, including a conch and scallop shell, sea star, turtle and a dolphin. You will learn heat control plus a variety of sculpting techniques that Judy uses which can be used in many other beads and sculptural pieces. Bring your favorite tools for a day of beachy bead fun!

Have you been wondering how those adorable little fish are made from glass?
The second day of class is ALL about FISH! We will explore the many ways to turn a simple wrap of glass into a whimsical fish. Judy uses several techniques and tools to create her fish, most of which can be applied to all sorts of critters and sculptural beads. Bring your imagination, favorite colors of glass, tools and frits for a day of fishy fun! Fish beads with emphasis on different facial features, fins and anatomy. practice facial features, fins beads, 1 fantasy fish, 1 realistic angel fish, 1 octopus with barnacles, also a turtle, dolphin and shells.

Diving Deeper On Jan 10, 2010 - $200 (glass not included)

This advanced fish bead class is designed for those who have already taken Judy’s Fishing 101 or is familiar with the basics about making fish/sculptural beads. We will warm up by making a funky flat fish, then venture into critters made with twisties, encasement and hollows. Time permitting, a seahorse demo.
Beads made: funky flat fish; a twistie shell; hollow puffer; encased fish.

Hey guys, Just thought I'd throw my two cents in. Judy's classes ROCK. She teaches some Kickin techniques that you will definitely use (even if you never make another fish!). She is also great at helping you out if you're having heat control issues. (a plus for the control freak in all of us...) Besides, She's a blast! You definitely won't regret this one.
