Tiny flame with HH and Propane
Hi, i wonder if anyone can help me.
Ive connected my Hot Head to a propane bottle with a hot head attachment, hose and the connector for the gas bottle. There is only a tiny flame coming out of my hot head. Does anyone know why i cant get a full flame?
Ive tried turning everything up and down. Could it be the connector from the hothead to the hose?
The torch seems to work on an old bottle of mapp gas.
I live in France which is why ive chosen to use a propane bottle as the mapp gas connection is different here and too expensive.
Please, does anyone have any answers?
Thanks
Louise

Hi,
I would just try another bottle first. If it is good then you know it is that one bottle that is bad.

Thanks
The gas seems to come out ok though the attachment ive got but is slowed through the hot head. Maybe it is the gas bottle. I have a feeling its not. I dont know whether the french gas bottles have a different pressure or not. i think they would be similar. They are used to run cookers and things here.
Any other ideas?

Propane is propane and the pressure should be the same.
Do you have a regulator in your connection? If so, that is probably your problem.
- Make sure you have a high pressure hose to do this. And read the threads concerning safety on this. -

I dont have a regulator.
I think its just a normal hose, with fairly small hole. How do i know if its high pressure?
thanks

I'm wrong.
I think i do have a regulator. I just looked it up on google images!
I'll try and connect up without it.

Hereabouts the high pressure hoses are black and the low pressure ones red. If the regulator is part of the hose assembly you probably have a low pressure hose (depending on which side it's on) (no point for the manufacturer to put in a high pressure hose if it's just low pressure gas). If the two are separate it depends. Most BBQs I know of run on tank pressure without regulator. If your hose is meant for one of those you're OK. Is there any writing on the hose?
(Also: don't try this inside a building ...)

The key issue here is "french bottle" and if it has "regulator"....
As others have said, pictures!
