I posted this on Facebook, thought I would share here as well.
Here is a quick small tip that may help another lampworker. With a full rod of glass, make a thick paddle on both ends. Once cooled, etch only one paddle. Replace the rod into your tube of glass and now you have a handy sample of how the glass looks etched or unetched
